• Women's Economic Forum 2009 Concludes Making 7 Recommendations

    The 2009 Women's Economic Forum entitled "Women As Development Partners" which was held on May 12-13 concluded successfully. The forum was held under the direction of His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad ibn Fahad ibn Abdul-Aziz, the Governor of the Eastern Province and Her Royal Highness Princess Jawahir bint Naif ibn Abdul-Aziz, with the participation of Princess Lu'luw'ah Al-Faisal, and Dr. Hissa bint Sa'd bint Abdullah Al-Salam Al-Sabah. The forum sought ways to encourage and develop greater economic and social participation of women. The forum concluded making several recommendations including:It is necessary to encourage women to invest in profitable economic enterprises and participate in the development of the national economy.Support the enterprises of businesswomen and facilitate business opportunities and the employment of women.Encourage public and private financing for the business enterprises of women to help stimulate overall economic growth.Offer financial incentives and moral support to those who facilitate business opportunities and employment for women.Raise awareness about the importance of appreciating the honorable place of women in the religion of Islam.Implementing new programs that seek to expand the participation of women in the society and include them comprehensive development efforts.Encourage the participitation of women in the formulation of rules and regulations pertaining to them before submitting regulations proposals to the concerned authorities.Changing some of the current regulations pertaining to women in order to facilitate increased social and economic participation.
